Three Generations of Southern Italian Cooking

Our kitchen is guided by Southern Italian tradition — recipes passed down through three generations, shaped by family tables, long Sundays, and the belief that food should bring people together.

In Southern Italy, cooking is not rushed. It is deliberate, seasonal and deeply rooted in simplicity. Fresh ingredients are treated with respect. Sauces are slow-cooked. Pasta is never an afterthought — it is the centrepiece.

At Mulino, our pasta is made fresh daily. The texture, the bite, the way it holds sauce — these are small details that define authenticity. Whether paired with a slow-simmered ragù or a simple tomato and basil sauce, fresh pasta changes everything.

We also embrace the tradition of chicchetti — small plates designed for sharing. Food in Italy is social. It arrives at the table in stages, encouraging conversation, laughter and connection. Sharing plates reflect that culture — relaxed, generous and full of flavour.

And to finish, our homemade gelato is crafted using traditional Italian methods. Lower in air, richer in texture and made with carefully balanced ingredients, true gelato is smooth, clean and intensely flavoured. It is the perfect expression of Italian craftsmanship in its simplest form.

Three generations of recipes are not just instructions — they are memory, culture and identity. Every plate we serve carries that heritage forward, from Southern Italy to the heart of Urmston.
