Our Story

I arrived in Manchester in 1996 with a love for food and wine and training from culinary school in Rimini, Italy. I started as a waiter and worked my way through every role in the restaurant. What began with hard work and discipline grew into Zola Martini, a family business that has now served Manchester for 29 years across four Italian restaurants, including the city centre. Mulino is the next chapter. I created it as a chicchetti bar and Neapolitan pizzeria, a place for small plates to share, fresh pasta made daily and pizza prepared with respect. Our mozzarella, burrata and buffalo mozzarella are imported directly from Napoli. We use carefully selected flour and the best ingredients we can source, always aiming to serve food that is clean, honest and full of flavour. Our gelato is homemade using traditional methods, and many of our recipes come from three generations of family cooking. Every wine is personally selected. Every team member is hands-on. We never cut corners. My customers are my celebrities and their loyalty is everything. At Mulino, my product is my promise, real Italian warmth right here in Urmston.

For nearly three decades we have served Manchester through our family business, Zola Martini, building four Italian restaurants founded on discipline, consistency and genuine hospitality. I arrived in 1996 with a passion for food and wine and training from culinary school in Rimini, Italy, starting as a waiter and working through every role in the restaurant. Mulino represents the evolution of that journey, created as a chicchetti bar and Neapolitan pizzeria to bring real Italian warmth to Urmston. We import our mozzarella and burrata directly from Napoli, carefully select our flour and ingredients, and prepare fresh pasta and homemade gelato daily using traditional methods and three generations of recipes. Every wine is personally chosen, every team member is hands on, and we never compromise on quality. Our customers are the reason we exist, and their loyalty remains our greatest recognition.
